Perfectly Different Project was created from a place of love, lived experience, and the belief that every person deserves to feel seen, accepted, and celebrated exactly as they are.

We started this project to help create a kinder and more inclusive world for people living with differences, disabilities, visible conditions, and unique challenges. Too often, people who are “different” are made to feel like they need to hide who they are or fit into a version of normal that was never designed for everyone. We wanted to change that conversation.

At Perfectly Different project, we believe differences are not flaws — they are part of what makes each person beautiful, valuable, and important. Our mission is to spread awareness, encourage kindness, promote inclusion, and create safe spaces where people can feel proud of who they are.

This project is more than awareness. It is about connection, compassion, and reminding people that they are never alone. Through creativity, advocacy, community support, and positive messaging, we hope to inspire confidence in those who may feel overlooked and educate others on the importance of acceptance and understanding.

The orange limb difference awareness ribbon, peace symbols, and bright creative themes throughout our project represent hope, individuality, unity, and the belief that kindness should always come first.

Perfectly Different was built on one simple idea:

Being different does not make you less — it makes you perfectly different.

Meet our incredible 7 year old daughter - A little sister who looks up to her awesome big brother,  a little girl with a huge personality, endless confidence, and attitude x 1000! Born without her left hand, she has never let her limb difference define what she can or can't do. In fact, if you ask her, even us, there's really not much she can't do.

She's funny, smart, fearless, and full of life. Whether she is tying her own hair in a pony tail, playing with her older brother, writing, or joining in sports and playground adventures, she tackles everything with a smile. One of her favourite challenges - jumping on a high hopper like everyone else - and doing it brilliantly!

What makes her truly special, isnt just her ability to adapt, but the confidence and joy she brings to every room she walks into. She shows us daily that being different is not a limitation - its a strength. Her resilience, independence, and "watch me do it" attitude inspires everyone around her!

Through this movement, we hope the raise awareness about limb differences while celebrating children like her who prove everyday that confidence, courage and personality matter far more then the number of limbs you have. She is proud of who she is, we are proud and we are also proud to share her story with the world.

Our Vision

Our Vision

Our vision is a world where differences are embraced, kindness comes naturally, and every person has the confidence and opportunity to live proudly as their authentic self. We strive to build inclusive communities where diversity is celebrated and nobody feels alone because of what makes them different.

Our Story

In 2014 we welcomed our son, Chase, into the world and everything felt familiar. A little while later In April 2019, our daughter entered the world in the middle of an emergency delivery. In the chaos of the moment, we remember the doctors and nurses quickly surrounding her, and hearing someone say, “It’s a girl… and she has a stump.” Sitting there in shock, we didn’t fully understand what that meant or what the future would look like for our child.

Then we saw her — our beautiful little girl and her tiny arm — and in that moment, all we felt was love.

But alongside that love came uncertainty (not because of her limb difference but because of the unknown. We didn’t know how to explain her limb difference to others, what support was available, or what was expected of us as parents navigating something completely unfamiliar. Beyond the natural instinct to care for and protect our baby, we were left with countless unanswered questions. What would her future look like? Would she face limitations? Would she be accepted? Would she grow up confident and proud of who she is?

While there were appointments and check-ins in the months that followed, there was very little emotional support or guidance for families like ours. We wanted reassurance that our daughter would be okay — that she would thrive, succeed, and be strong enough to handle a world that is not always kind.

As the years went on, it became clear that her limb difference would never hold her back physically. She continued to grow, learn, and reach every milestone with determination and strength. But as a family, we also experienced the harsh reality of how cruel people can sometimes be. We have witnessed stares, whispers, and hurtful comments from both children and adults. Our older son has even felt the need to stand up for and protect his sister from bullying at school.

Over time, we realised something needed to change.

People with limb differences are not “less than.” They do not deserve to be treated differently, excluded, or judged because of the way they look. They are perfectly different — just like every single person in this world.

That is why we created the Perfectly Different Project.

Our mission is to change the narrative surrounding limb differences through awareness, inclusion, education, and kindness. We want every child and every family walking a similar path to know they are not alone, and that being different is not something to hide — it is something to embrace.  If you’ve recently found out your child will be born with a difference, please know that everything will work out. While the journey may come with uncertainty, emotions, and challenges, it will also be filled with strength, resilience, love, and moments of incredible pride. Your child is not defined by their difference — they are unique, capable, and worthy exactly as they are.
